DHAKA: A meeting of Apex International Journalist Council was held in The Asian Age office last week. Chairman of The Asian Age Shoeb Chowdhury, the newspaper’s Editor-in-Charge Selim Omrao Khan and former ambassador Professor Dr. Nim Chandra Bhowmik are seen in the picture among others.
International journalists association Apex International Journalist Council has constituted its committee for Bangladesh Chapter. Selim Omrao Khan, Editor-in-Charge of The Asian Age has been elected in the post of President while AKM Shariful Islam Khan, Editor of News21bd.net has been elected in the post of Secretary.
The above committee was formed at a special meeting held at The Asian Age office in the capital’s Tejgaon.

The other committee members are vice president Mir Abdul Alim and Kamal Hossain, Joint Secretary Nurey Alam Khokon, organizing secretary Humayun Chishty, treasurer Soheli Chowdhury and office secretary Abu Nayem Khan.
Shyamal Kumar Sannyal, Rashedul Hasan Bulbul and Nasir Uddin Bulbul have also become committee members.
Freedom fighter and former ambassador Professor Dr. Nim Chandra Bhowmik was present at the meeting as the chief guest. Chairman of Editorial Board of The Asian Age Shoeb Chowdhury and Syed Hossain Saikat attended the meeting as special guests.
The discussants at the meeting expressed hope that Apex International Journalist Council will play a substantial role in establishing freedom of press at home and abroad.
